A Pro-Life Team on Etsy!

I am very excited to announce the arrival of a pro-life team on Etsy! It's been in the works for a while but we finally have the official go-ahead from the Etsy admin and are happy to extend an invitation to all pro-lifers on Etsy to join us.

The official Handmade for Life Etsy Team's profile is as follows:

Name: Handmade for Life

Search for items from this team: HFLteam

Profile:
Handmade for Life is a group of artists and crafters who believe in the sanctity of life from conception to natural death. We uphold the truth that all people have an inalienable right to life that should be protected and defended.

Our mission is to build up a Culture of Life through the work of our hands. We gather from all walks of life to stand together in word and deed for these purposes; To support each other, inspire each other, and stand together in our conviction with positive action in the defense of innocent life.

There are no requirements for membership other than a desire to stand with others who support our mission. Active participation is welcome but not required. There are no exclusions by faith or creed but we do ask that member shops have an image that is family-friendly with no adult content, nudity, profanity, etc.

The group is in it's infancy so we look forward to growing our membership and activities as time goes on. Please feel free to contact the group leaders with any inquiries or membership requests. Team memberships will be added once a month (per Etsy rules). A thread on the forum will also be established once a month for use of the team members and anyone else who just wants to come and visit.

The establishment of this team is not an attempt to replace any of the wonderful networks already in place in the Etsy community, but to add a new dimension to the efforts to build up a Culture of Life.

We hope to see you there!!

Window on the Womb...

(Baby Chamberlain at 18 weeks)

I am awestruck every time I see photos of babies before they're born. The latest advance in ultrasound imaging is the 3D and 4D technology which allows one to see an actual multi-dimensional photograph and video of the child. It's just incredible and in Crisis Pregnancy Centers that have them, is the number one reason that a woman will decide to let her child live!

It seems to me that in spite of much of the Scientific world's great effort to replace God, it instead is becoming progressively more excellent at revealing the fingerprint of the Divine Creator. To be able to see a child's features, facial expressions, actions, and even hair before birth is a life-altering experience!

Today, I have the extreme pleasure of introducing one of the newest members of our Handmade for Life community! Her name is Chamberlain and she is 18 weeks old (pre-born), weighs 1/2 a pound and is about as long as a Snicker's candy bar. She can already do many things including opening and closing her eyes!

Chamberlain's mommy is the creative force behind Baruch's Lullaby on Etsy and a passionate lover of Life.
On Mother's Day in 2003 after a long and terrible illness, she miscarried a baby in the 12th week of pregnancy. They named him Baruch (bahr-ook) which means "blessing" in Hebrew, knowing that a life cut short is still a life and still a blessing, no matter how brief.

Her creative work is absolutely delightful. Beautiful and full of life and color. I challenge you to visit her shop and find something you wouldn't love to own or give! The icing on the cake is that she gives 30% of every sale to the Crisis Pregnancy Center in Anchorage, Alaska! Another great opportunity to show your love of Life even when shopping!

I am so grateful to the crew at Baruch's Lullaby for sharing their newest blessing with us. And I encourage everyone to take advantage of this great technology and encourage others to do the same. It is a tremendous way to grow in love and knowledge of the child and his or her Creator!

Bioethics Defense Fund Condemns "Obsolete Science Bailout Plan"

The Bioethics Defense Fund has a lot to say in response to President Obama’s executive order regarding federal tax-payer funding of new human embryonic stem cell lines. It's more than I can repost here so I highly recommend visiting their website for an excellent overview of this issue.

Included in the subjects they discuss:

*Why embryonic stem cells are obsolete.
*How the President missed the opportunity to use the latest science to unite the Nation.
*Facts about science that President Obama chose to ignore when signing this executive order.

Walking the Talk...

When I started this little work in defense of the Sanctity of Life, it was my great hope that a community would come together to motivate and inspire each other to find a way to use their particular gifts and talents for the cause. I have not been disappointed and look forward to introducing you to so many who have responded spontaneously and enthusiastically to that inspiration.

Lucy of Mum Mum's Crafts was one of the first to respond positively to this effort and immediately set to work finding a way to give more of herself. She unveiled her new project this week and it's just fantastic! Check this out...

A beautiful little bar of all-natural solid lotion imprinted with precious feet and housed in a practical tin. I'd never even heard of solid lotion before but I plan to familiarize myself with it soon! Here's Lucy's description of her Grapefruit and Litsea Solid Lotion Bar:

These ultra rich lotion bars are great for dry skin! They will melt into your skin and provide awesome relief. They are 100% natural, scented only with essential oils and because they are water free, a preservative is not needed!! Grapefruit & Litsea is an ultra refreshing citrus blend, certain to brighten your day! The cute little tins also make these ultra portable, great for purses! To use just take out the bar and allow it to melt slightly where ever moisture is needed. Great for elbows, hands, feet, knees, or anywhere!!

This particular product was made to support the Crisis Pregnancy Center, 50% of each sale goes directly to the Crisis Pregnancy Center; the other 50% goes to making more! The Crisis Pregnancy Center provides assistance to mothers and babies in need across the country. Each month’s proceeds will go to a different CPC, starting here in NC and working from there!

When you purchase this product, you know you're not just getting a beautiful and healthy product...You're also supporting mothers and babies in need.

I also highly recommend Lucy's other products. I am a huge fan of her Goat Milk Lotion (honey almond is my fave) and also her mineral make-up and soaps. I also recently discovered her jewelry shop and am just floored by her range of talents! And I know she homeschools...Anyone else feeling inspired!!

Thanks, Lucy....For all of your hard work, enthusiasm and support!

Red Envelopes...

One of the purposes of this blog is to give a voice and wings to those who want to walk the pro-life talk by using the gifts they've been given. That "walk" is going to be just a bit different for each of us and the inspiration given by God, unique to our hearts and hands.

One recent inspiration in the pro-life community comes through a man named Christ Otto. He's taken an idea and his passion and invited the rest of the world to join him in his good work. He's started a movement called The Red Envelope Project in order to send a message to President Obama about the impact of his anti-life policies...And hopefully, to inspire him to a change of heart.

Here is an excerpt from the Red Envelope website:

Dear Friends and Intercessors:

This afternoon I was praying about a number of things, and my mind began to wander. I was deeply distressed at the symbolic actions that President Obama took as he began his presidency. Namely, that he signed executive orders releasing funds to pay for abortions, permission to fund human stem cell research, and federal funding for contraception. I have been involved in the pro-life movement for nearly 20 years, and it pained my heart to see a man and a political party committed to the shedding of innocent blood. This man, and this party lead our country, but they do not represent me or the 54% of Americans who believe that abortion is wrong and should no longer be legal.

As I was praying, I believe that God gave me an interesting idea. Out in the garage I have a box of red envelopes. Like the powerful image of the red LIFE tape, an empty red envelope will send a message to Barack Obama that there is moral outrage in this country over this

Mr. Otto's website includes full instructions, the President's address, a place to record the number of envelopes you've sent, and resources for purchasing red envelopes.

While red envelopes can be sent anytime, he is hoping that a very large number can be sent on the same day to send a very strong and colorful message to the White House. March 31st is the target date for the next mailing...Can you imagine millions of red envelopes pouring into Washington?

As Chris Otto says, "Maybe it will change the heart of the President."

Please visit The Red Envelope Project!!
