Red Envelopes...

One of the purposes of this blog is to give a voice and wings to those who want to walk the pro-life talk by using the gifts they've been given. That "walk" is going to be just a bit different for each of us and the inspiration given by God, unique to our hearts and hands.

One recent inspiration in the pro-life community comes through a man named Christ Otto. He's taken an idea and his passion and invited the rest of the world to join him in his good work. He's started a movement called The Red Envelope Project in order to send a message to President Obama about the impact of his anti-life policies...And hopefully, to inspire him to a change of heart.

Here is an excerpt from the Red Envelope website:

Dear Friends and Intercessors:

This afternoon I was praying about a number of things, and my mind began to wander. I was deeply distressed at the symbolic actions that President Obama took as he began his presidency. Namely, that he signed executive orders releasing funds to pay for abortions, permission to fund human stem cell research, and federal funding for contraception. I have been involved in the pro-life movement for nearly 20 years, and it pained my heart to see a man and a political party committed to the shedding of innocent blood. This man, and this party lead our country, but they do not represent me or the 54% of Americans who believe that abortion is wrong and should no longer be legal.

As I was praying, I believe that God gave me an interesting idea. Out in the garage I have a box of red envelopes. Like the powerful image of the red LIFE tape, an empty red envelope will send a message to Barack Obama that there is moral outrage in this country over this

Mr. Otto's website includes full instructions, the President's address, a place to record the number of envelopes you've sent, and resources for purchasing red envelopes.

While red envelopes can be sent anytime, he is hoping that a very large number can be sent on the same day to send a very strong and colorful message to the White House. March 31st is the target date for the next mailing...Can you imagine millions of red envelopes pouring into Washington?

As Chris Otto says, "Maybe it will change the heart of the President."

Please visit The Red Envelope Project!!

  1. This is brilliant, and something that I can surely do to help get the message across! I'm sure it was no coincidence, when yesterday as I was shopping for new thank you cards, my eyes were repeatedly drawn back to the box filled with the red ones...I'll go back today and buy those!
Thank you Melody, for your love and great passion for the innocents!
    God bless you dear one.

  2. Thanks, Daffy! I just remembered today that I received an entire box of red envelopes at a box store giveaway after Christmas...And it's just sitting in the closet. Coincidence? :)

  4. Great idea, Kathy! I was wondering at first if Obama would ever even see these and then thought, "Well, SOMEBODY will see them!" Sending them to other civil servants will give that much more exposure to different people...The mailman, the secretary...and hopefully, somebody at the top rung!
